Why this exists.

You're looking at a car dealer. They have forty reviews and a 4.2 average. There are six 1-star reviews buried in there. Are they real? Are they fair? You have no way to know.

CarDealerReview was built to answer that question. We investigate the bad reviews — properly, evidentially — and publish our verdict for anyone to read.

The problem

Bad reviews are impossible to read without context.

When you see a 1-star review of a car dealer, you don't know whether it's a genuine customer who had a terrible experience — or a competitor running a smear campaign. You don't know whether the complaint is specific and verifiable, or vague and unsubstantiated. You don't know if the reviewer ever set foot in the dealership.

Review platforms show you the rating and the text. They don't investigate. They don't tell you whether the reviewer has any history outside of leaving 1-star reviews at independent car dealers. They don't tell you whether five similar reviews appeared in the same 48-hour window.

Buyers are making decisions worth thousands of pounds on the basis of reviews that may be completely fabricated — or may be completely legitimate. There was nowhere to find out which. Until now.

What we are

A bad review investigation service. For buyers.

We investigate 1-star and low-rated reviews of UK car dealers. We apply a consistent methodology — reviewer history, posting patterns, linguistic analysis, cross-platform comparison — and we publish our verdict: Fair, Unfair, or Inconclusive.

The original review is always shown alongside our finding. You can read what the reviewer said, and you can read what we found. The whole record is publicly searchable, free, and requires no account.

We do not investigate good reviews. We are not a reputation management service. We are not paid by dealers. We decide what to investigate independently, and we publish what the evidence shows — whether that helps the dealer or not.

Independence

What independence means in practice.

We do not take advertising from dealers, dealer groups, or any automotive brand. We are not paid to investigate — or not investigate — any specific dealer. We have no commercial relationships with any review platform.

Dealers cannot pay us to investigate on their behalf. Dealers cannot pay us to publish a favourable verdict. A dealer with a string of unfair negative reviews gets the same rigorous process as a dealer with genuine complaints against them.

If our investigation finds that a bad review is fair — we say so. If we find it isn't — we say that too. The public gets the accurate record either way.
